Launching at CHUM in 2026
Canada’s First Dedicated Cancer Clinic for Transgender and Non-Binary People
Launching in 2026 at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM)
About the Clinic
The Trans Cancer Clinic provides inclusive, bilingual cancer care designed specifically for transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse people.
Across Canada, transgender and non-binary patients face major gaps in cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Fear of discrimination and limited provider training mean that many delay or avoid care altogether.
Our clinic changes that. By integrating gender-affirming medicine with oncology, we offer safe, coordinated, and affirming care throughout the cancer journey, from screening and diagnosis to survivorship.
Our Mission
To improve access, safety, and outcomes for trans and non-binary people with cancer through:
Compassionate, gender-affirming clinical care
Coordinated oncology and hormone therapy management
Bilingual (French / English) services
Telehealth access across Quebec
Community partnership and patient leadership
Why It Matters
Every year, an estimated 150–200 transgender and non-binary Quebecers are diagnosed with cancer, yet no specialized oncology services currently exist in Canada.
The Trans Cancer Clinic at CHUM will:
Bridge oncology and gender-affirming care
Train healthcare providers in trans-inclusive cancer care
Build evidence to expand this model across Canada
