About OncoDiversity

OncoDiversity exists because 2SLGBTQI+ people experience significant cancer-related inequities compared with the broader population. Research shows that sexual and gender minority communities face unique barriers at every stage of the cancer continuum, from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. These disparities are driven by stigma, discrimination, and systemic gaps in healthcare access rather than biological differences alone.

Our vision is a future where every 2SLGBTQI+ person facing cancer receives equitable, evidence-based care within healthcare systems that are inclusive, stigma-free, and resilient. OncoDiversité is dedicated to transforming cancer care for 2SLGBTQI+ communities in Canada and beyond.

We work at the intersection of research, education, advocacy, and community partnership to improve cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. Our work centres clinical and academic expertise with lived experiences to ensure care that is affirming, informed, and responsive to the realities of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions.

We believe that inclusive cancer care improves outcomes not only for 2SLGBTQI+ communities, but also strengthens the compassion, effectiveness, and resilience of the entire health system.
